TYLER MANE OUR MAIN MAN

The movie vibe is reverberating through SPI like a mighty wind. John Saunders, author of The Last Spartan was at work and got a call from Tyler Mane. Mane was a professional wrestler before he got into acting. He is a giant, 6 foot 8 about 275.  He has done a ton of character work in The Scorpion King with the Rock, on Monk, and is best known as Ajax from the movie Troy with Brad Pitt, Sabertooth in the first X-Men movie, and as Michael Myers in the Rob Zombie Halloween Movies. Tyler and John talked about the book and the Frank Kane character and Mane said he really wants to get The Last Spartan made into a movie. Great news, and congrats John on creating such a vivid character.

Let us know if you want John to visit your group and we'll set it up. Rod White wrote a nice review of TLS. Click on the cover on the right and scroll down to the bottom of the page to read it.

COOKING ON THE CAR ON WDSE TV-8

'Twas nice indeed to have Cooking on the Car broadcast on WDSE - TV8 in the Duluth/Superior area market last August 15th. One nifty result was that a complete stranger on the street walked up to Dan Dresser, one of the stars of the film, and said, "HEY! You're that Cooking on the Car guy."

Check out the clip by clicking on the video to the right.

Manifold Destiny

Jason Wusso and Dan Dresser took off from Duluth, MN headed for Taos, NM one January day with just one rule: All hot meals must be cooked on Ellen's manifold as they drive. Join the boys in this super-funny 18.5 minute video as they realize their "manifold destiny" cooking up the venison quiche, creating cowboy coffee, managing the mahi mahi, making muffins and more! Click the clip to the right for a preview.

CONGRATULATIONS BUD WAGNER

See a heart warming video at: http://www.fox21online.com/news/veterans-story-northland-man-documented-world-war-ii

Things couldn't have worked out better. Bud Wagner, author of And There Shall be Wars is turning 90 on Sunday, June 14th, which ironically is Flag Day. FOX 21 News in Duluth is doing a feature story on Bud, his gardening and his book...in fact, his life story. Additionally, a 14 page feature story on Bud and his wartime experiences in Italy is running in the Italian magazine Terre di Seta, complete with 22 great photos from his book.

This great blessing is happening to a great man at a wonderful time in his life. Having served his country, his family, his church, and his community for 90 years, this is a tremendous tribute to one of the stalwarts of The Greatest Generation.

If you want to check out a nifty "Italian Greeting" from the magazine folks in Italy from up near the Po Valley where Bud's military campaign ended, click on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pk7nJTlP01w

     Super Story on Super Angler

Well, the third good thing has come. The Eau Claire Leader Telegram ran a great article on Jay Thurston. It features his trout fishing expertise primarily, but does give good ink to his book. If you care to check it out, visit: http://www.leadertelegram.com/story-ros.asp?id=BJQMOTBSJIN

GREAT REVIEW OF LAST SPARTAN!

About all we can say is, "WOW!"

John Saunders and his book The Last Spartan got a fantastic spread in the Jamestown News. A full half page above the fold. Here's the link to the online version of the story .

"...once one curls up with [Saunders'] latest novel...it becomes apparent that he is a craftsman of the highest order, a word merchant who deserves a Conroy-esque, Grisham-ish audience."

     We certainly agree.

Tell your friends about this great summer read.

LUELLA GOES VIRAL / GETS ON ELLEN!

Here's the deal: National Children's Book Week begins May 12th. We've offered to give a copy of Melinda Braun's book Luella to audience members of the Ellen show one of those days if they will have Melinda on to tell the sweet, sweet, TRUE story of the orphan duck raised by a Pug named Pancake. Would you be willing to help make this a reality by emailing Ellen's show and "encouraging" them to have Melinda on as a guest? Tell ALL your friends to do the same. If this goes viral and enough people ask, maybe they'll invite Melinda to the show and she will be able to meet one of her favorite stars. Plus, children around the world will get to know a true story of love and acceptance. Please email Ellen for us! Ask your friends to do the same! Thanks! Go to:  The Ellen Degeneres website and help get the plucky ducky, the pugnacious pug, and the angelic author on Ellen for National Children's Book Week!

Check out Melinda's blog  It's a fun visit.
